 R & D

Right from the start, I-Media has considered that technological mastery of its production tools as a decisive competitive advantage.
That's why over the last ten years, I-Media has continually invested in its information and transmission systems to achieve this result.
  • Extra-high performance transmission systems
At the nerve centre of our business, these systems perform individualization, distribution, and tracking of all your messages. Faced with the issues of high volume (several million messages a day), priority (fitting in several hundred operations at the time), individualization (ability to insert up to 256 variable fields in a message), mixedness (combination of various message formats), I-Media immediately committed itself to a development that would ensure :
  • Very high scalability.
  • The ability to cope perfectly with increased loads.
  • Complete technological independence from the manufacturers and operators.
  • Full control of operating costs.
  • The ability to integrate new distribution media.
I-Media software, written in C and working under Windows NT, is organized in the form of interoperating modules. This technology makes the addition of new functions extremely easy.
  • A robust, efficient information system
Using client-server architecture, built around a cluster of Oracle 8i servers and Access 97/2000 front ends, the information system runs the whole operation:
  • Hosting and handling of customers' databases.
  • Operation processing.
  • Production management.
  • Dispatch monitoring.
  • Consolidation of dispatch logs.
  • Invoicing.
  • Sales activity monitoring.
  • Commercial administration.
The information system has a downstream interface with the transmission tools and an upstream interface with our accounting tools. It is used by all the company's employees and gives complete real time access to all the information. Developed with a view to optimizing production tasks, it automates almost 90% of the processing. It was developed in house by our engineers and has been managed since 1994 by our I.T. Manager, Mr. Jacques Boinot. It is the object of continuous upgrades and is continually being adjusted to meet new internal as well as external demands.

  • Customer Interfaces
The choice of Oracle 8i as a platform has enabled I-Media to implement a very efficient extranet. Each customer account can be accessed in its entirety by the customer concerned; every item can be consulted (operations in progress, dispatch reports, historical dispatch records, invoices, databases, messages sent, etc.). The company extranet is accessible via www.imedia-production.com and works on an ASP model, enabling clients to enter their routing orders directly by Internet. I-Media receives over 90% of its orders through this channel.
